Note
  • 1. Championship participants must buy a full festival pass to compete
  • 2. Last date to register will be 30-April-2017
  • 3. Championship will be held on Thursday, 06th July 2017, starting at 10:00 AM, Participants are expected to complete the registration formalities before 9:30 AM on the same day
  • All the contestants need to report backstage 20 mins before their allotted time
  • 4. Final edited version of the song (MP3 format) must be mailed to ID 5. iidc.congress@gmail.com  on or before 10-June-2017, CD’s are not accepted
  • 6. Team Championship division must have minimum of 2 couples

AMATEUR
  • 1. An individual will be regarded as an amateur if he or she has been learning Latin dance either at a school / through workshops / at salsa festivals and is a social dancer "for a span of 2 years", either continuously or at regular intervals.
  • 2. This person will be eligible to compete in amateur category for 2 years from the year of his / her entry into the Latin field. However this individual must compete at least in the 2nd year of dancing if not in first, to reap the advantage of being in amateur category for the 3rd year (scenario 3).
  • 3. However if he or she chooses not to compete in the first 2 years, then the person automatically gets moved into Semi-professional category and cannot compete in Amateur in his or her 3rd year.

SEMI-PRO
  • 1. An individual will be regarded as a semi-professional if he or she has been learning Latin dance either at a school / through workshops / at salsa festivals and is a social dancer for "more than 2 years", either continuously or at regular intervals. Assisting in classes is permitted but he or she cannot teach for remuneration.
  • 2. This person will be eligible to compete in Semi-professional category for 2 or 2+1 consecutive years and it is entirely up to him or her if he or she chooses to compete for all the 3 years or less than that.
  • 3. However if he or she chooses to forego competing for a year or two out of the available 3 years window, the chance cannot be carried forward to the 4th year and will be moved into Professional category in their 4th year for competitions.
Pro

An individual will be regarded as a Professional if he or she –

  • 1. Teaches Latin and / or performs shows and earns remuneration out of it
  • 2. Has 5+1 years of experience in Latin dancing is considered to be in the Professional category
  • 3. Has competed in Semi-pro for 3 consecutive years, whether or not getting placed in the top 3 spots
  • 4. Has been in Latin dance scene for more than 5 years as a learner / social dancer / competitor

** However every single entry will be subject to the organizing committee's scrutiny for final decision.

Rules And Judging Criteria

MUSIC: Minimum 80% Latin music to be used in all competitive routines. Minimum duration for a routine is 1 min 30 secs and maximum is 2 mins 30 secs
ATTIRE: Latin costumes and Latin footwear is a must and non-compliance in this regard will result it marks deduction.
LIFTS & TRICKS: Definition of Lift: Needs elevated support from partner with both legs of a partner off the floor, for not more than 4 bars of the music in one go. Dips & flairs will not come under the category of lifts
Definition of Trick: One leg must be on floor throughout.
Semi professional & Professional category: Maximum 3 Lifts and any number of tricks.
Amateur Category: Any number of lifts and tricks permitted
** Any violation in the above rules will result in point’s deduction. Participants who enroll and back out of the championship (without valid medical reasons) will be barred to participate in any competitions conducted by LRDA for the next two years
** Depending on number of entries the organizing committee will decide whether to have 2 rounds or one.
